Curt Boettcher was a pioneering figure in the late 60s whose music now has cult status. Known for his hit productions for The Association (“Cherish”, “Along Comes Mary”), he formed bands The Ballroom and The Millennium, and worked with Gary Usher on the stunning Sagittarius album. This new compilation Looking For The Sun compiles rare singles and unreleased material that Curt produced for other artists. The vaults of Sony Music and LA studios have been trawled for this album, and in good time too given that much music from this period has been lost or destroyed.

A great example is the opener, actress Cindy Malone’s 1967 gem “You Were Near Me” which has languished in the vaults until now.

Other highlights include Curt’s project with Victoria Winston – Summer’s Children and their 1966 single “Milk and Honey”. Eddie Hodges “Shadows and Reflexions” released the following year remains a mighty production. It perfectly bridges sunshine-pop and dark psychedelia.

Because of the extensive sleevenotes, you’ll get to see that Glen Campbell and David Gates played on the Keith Colley tracks and the strange reason why Gordon Alexander never recorded a follow-up to his debut album. With the set completed by two superb tracks by Sagittarius, it’s is a fitting way to remember the huge talent that was Curt Boettcher: https://ffm.to/lookingforthesun
