Chinofeldy are Glasgow’s Joe Kane and Marco Rea. They are creating music to keep themselves sane during lockdown and with a little help from their friends they have crafted a new Beatlesque anthem for our times: chinofeldy.bandcamp.com/track/stay-home

The reissue of Spring 2020 is Andrew Gold‘s Something New: Unreleased Gold. In 1973, the sadly missed songwriter was best known as a musician and arranger showcased by his work on Linda Ronstadt’s version of ‘You’re No Good’. Peter Asher worked with Andrew extensively in this period and shares his memories in the sleevenotes of Andrew’s prodigious talent.

Back in 73 Andrew was looking for a record deal and these demo tracks were mostly lost in the archives. Only reworked versions of ‘Resting In Your Love’ and ‘A Note From You’ would be released in his early solo years. ‘Something New’ is one of the key tracks from this strong set but there are many more equally as good: omnivorerecordings.com/shop/something-new

Dreaming David K & Organic‘s new album harks back to mid 70s progressive music with a gorgeously recorded album that sits alongside Floyd, Camel and Genesis. With lyrics about the universe augmented by keyboards, guitars and grand piano it holds it own against it lofty comparators. Essential listening for fans of classic prog: dreamingdavidk.com

Schizo Fun Addict‘s The Last Wave is another ambitious album from this collective. Bringing psych, indie and harmony across its 10 tracks, the themes of this LP are a fitting for the strange times we’re living in. A concept album about two lovers who meet on a beach with no people in a dystopian end of the world, highlights include ‘Peace Walks By My Side’, ‘Crossing Over’ and ‘Expressway’. Whilst recalling My Bloody Valentine, Beach Boys and early Mercury Rev, The Last Wave has its own unique identity: flickniferecords.co.uk  A limited (99 copies) vinyl edition will also be available on the Friends of the Fish imprint at fruitsdemerrecords.com

The Corner Laughers new single ‘The Accepted Time’ is a very welcome return from the band and is a delicious taster off their forthcoming album Temescal Telegraph. A joyful track about living in the moment is what we need right now: bigstirrecords.com/the-corner-laughers

Bhopal’s Flowers‘ Indian enfused take of Cream’s I Feel Free is available on the equally marvellous ‘A Band For All Seasons’ on Fruits de Mer Records.

Following Custard Flux‘s sold out Echo LP, this set has been re-released in limited edition transparent blue vinyl. Crucially this Fruits de Mer Records’ Friends of the Fish release also contains a CD of new songs which is not available to download. It’s a testament to Curvey’s creativity and songwriting that there’s no dip in quality. ‘It’s Just A Matter Of Time’ alone ranks as one of best tracks he’s produced, a dizzingly heavy acoustic psych ballad: custardflux.bandcamp.com
