  1. This is a must for anyone who loves the truly groundbreaking musical years of the 1960`s and early `70`s. when musicians / songwriters had to learn their craft and pay their dues.Junior Campbell succinctly takes us through his early years with Dean Ford and the Gaylords and then Marmalade. He covers a lot of ground with revealing stories about recording contracts, legendary producers and dealings with record labels. He also talks about his songwriting, a fascinating process, how the classic songs `Reflections of my Life `and `Rainbow` were created .Great podcast … not to be missed !

  2. Fascinating podcast, Marmalade were a great band and Junior’s memories are a delight. Beyond those perfect pop hits there’s a wealth of inventive and ambitious gems worth hunting out. Dean Ford had such a great voice too, absolutely convincing whatever he sang.

  3. Awesome podcast!
Marmalade and many other bands stood out!! Thank you for bringing these fantastic stories to the new generation!
    I love knowing about those
    ‘early days’!!

  4. Another great podcast about a great band that doesn’t get the recognition the musicians deserve. Many people know and love “Reflections of my Life”, but have little or no idea about the band behind the song. The reason may be, that “The Marmalade” didn’t have a typical sound. Songs like “I see the Rain”, “Loving Things”, “Obladi Oblada” and “Reflections” sounded like four different bands. And their catalogue was treated badly over the years. First time I bought a “Best of” album, it turned out to be a set of re-recordings. “Fine Cuts” in 2011 was the first great collection I found in a shop so far, showing they had a lot more to offer. We can’t go back in time and correct things. But even if “Reflections of my Life” had been their only hit song, it all was worth it. I can only say “Thanks” for this great tune !!!

  5. Thank you so much for a fabulous walk down memory lane. You played at a small venue called The Wharf in Worcestershire and had a huge impact on two girls called Mary and Anne. You say in the podcast that Dean would tinker around with records that were given to you, did he have any impact on the words to “Wait for me Maryanne. By the way, I had never met a band that played at the Wharf who could consume as much food as all of you, but we absolutely loved you.
