Thank you very much for this very interesting interview with pop/rock legend Vince Melouney! Those were the times when music sent you into a different universe! Love the new single “Women”! Can’t wait for more new material to come!
This is a really fab interview with one of my fave guitarists ever. Love hearing the background stories about the songs, the band, the times. Thanks so much!
Thanks for another highly interesting interview. I was 8 when I watched the original “Bee Gees” perform on “Beat Club”, not to be confused with that “Idea” -TV special from ZDF, that is mentioned in the interview. The Bee Gees were regulars on “Beat Club” and I even remember them appearing as a trio, when Melouney and Peterson could not leave England in fear of deportation. The original five-piece Bee Gees must have been a fantastic live band, as some BBC recordings and especially a show from Switzerland are showing. I always wondered, why the swiss concert features them playing “Strange Brew” by “Cream”, now I finally got the answer. Vince Melouney had a very unique playing style, that brought an exciting “edge” to the Bee Gees’ melodies. This went missing on “Odessa”, when he left. His contribution makes those first three albums very special.
Listening to the podcast right now and enjoying it very much. A shame Vince left The Bee Gees so soon. I’m rediscovering the “Idea” album thanks to him and liking his rock influences very much.
