I’ve only purchased 7 so far, but may be getting 6 and 5 (18) pretty soon.
Tony is the music of my life
Nice interview. He needs more timpani on his orchestral pieces, keyboard guys always go too light on the percussion in their orchestration. But almost everything I was ready to criticize both about the music and about the interview was then covered. Ah, there’s the time and atmosphere changes.
I did get the feeling that the orchestration bit that was played almost seemed more like a soundtrack than an actual orchestra piece. What the difference is I dont know, one seems more akin to trying to let YOU express imaginative ideas with the music, while the other is trying to get across certain imaginative ideas. Whether there’s anything wrong with that I don’t know, it could be that in the past Tonys music was very ‘in your face’, with “here’s the gaddam keyboards pal, you were expecting guitar?” while this was not that. That could be a sign of musical growth, fading ego, I don’t know. But it was interesting.
