I am a rock orientated person but something about Candles in the Rain gave me a good feeling in 1970, I think it was a song for the older teenagers of the time. The song was an anthem to peace and good things which our generation hoped the world would become.
Melanie sang to that thought and the people like me who thought we could change the world. As we now all pass into our 70’s its hard to feel melancholy about how its turned out – more of the same crap with Putin, Netanayu and their ilk despoiling the peace Melanie craved for the world.
