One of the great English songwriters Martin Newell, is releasing his latest album Star Café under The Cleaners From Venus moniker. Released on 21 May, its 18 lo-fi Cinderella tracks were recorded on his dependable 4-track. Digital versions are available through all the main platforms with the CD also available exclusively through Bandcamp.
Previewed late last year in an interview with Jason Barnard, Star Café maintains Martin’s incredible high standards.
Additionally Martin returns to the Colchester Arts Centre on the 17 June for an afternoon of tunes, rhymes, and stories.
During the past five years, Martin almost went blind and Colchester’s Lexden Rd Opthalmology Unit restored much of his sight. To thank the surgeons and their teams who worked hard to save him, this concert will also raise funds for the Hospital Trust’s glaucoma service. Tickets are available here.
