Readers will be familiar with the American early 1970s rock band Jo Jo Gunne, helmed by former Spirit members Jay Ferguson and Mark Andes.
However, the first band to use the name Jo Jo Gunne was in fact a little known British R&B/soul outfit, formed in Twickenham, Middlesex around late 1965.

I was the bass player for a few months with these clowns (I met them in the Bahamas while I was on a 3month gig in 1969) Chas Hodges and Harvey Hinsley introduced me as I recall…I’m still playing in The USA full time (Denver Colorado) .They called me Okie (slang for a dimwit from Oklahoma) but I didn’t say anything, i needed to eat.I was the brunt of many a joke from Wendels especially , a brutal asshole and a sad excuse for a human being.I was trying to make a life in London ,but got no help from these guys , we did go to Germany as I recall… but the neurons have faded with time .
