James Taylor, from The James Taylor Quartet, is reuniting with The Prisoners, for a special performance at The London Roundhouse in May 2024.
The Prisoners originally emerged from the Medway Towns in Kent back in 1982, with their blend of alternative rock and soulful sounds. Their debut LP, ‘A Taste of Pink,’ released on the band’s Own Up label, marked the beginning before signing the next year with Ace Records’ ‘Big Beat’ subsidiary for their second album, ‘The Wisermiserdemelza’ which included the hit single ‘Hurricane’.
The Prisoners cemented their position with albums: ‘The Last Fourfathers’ in 1985 and ‘In From The Cold’ in 1986. The latter featured ‘Whenever I’m Gone’ which remains a fan favourite. After a successful UK tour supporting the Ramones, the band split.
Now, in May 2024, fans have a rare opportunity to witness history in the making as James Taylor reunites with The Prisoners for a special one-off show at The London Roundhouse in Camden. Joining them for the evening will be former label boss, Steve Lamacq, who will serve as DJ and compere.
