Very rarely do we hear new music that is comparable to the beauty, invention and ambition of the psychedelic peak of 1967. However, Beaulieu Porch’s latest seven inch (The Colour 55 c/w Navy Blue) released on Peppermint Hill shines brightly in this company.
The Colour 55’s ethereal introduction feels like an long lost out-take from Mercury Rev’s nineties classic Deserter’s Songs and builds into symphonic psychedelic rock. Navy Blue is the sound that you hear in the moments before you drift into deep sleep but wish you could recall when back in the real world. If only other musicians had the same candy coated psychedelic dreams as Beaulieu Porch’s Simon Berry!
