The Spitfires Live EP was recorded in October last year and is a furious blast of material that act as an essential celebration of the band. Opener  ‘The New Age’ sets the scene and none of the other four tracks let up. The social and political commentary of ‘Stand Down’ continues to resonate in the Brexit era, with ‘On My Mind’ completing a breathless set. The Spitfires are clearly a must-see live act. Stockholm duo In These Murky Waters, use only old replay keyboards like Optigans, Mellotrons, Chamberlins and Orchestrons with vocals. Tied to 12 strong songs, ‘we came from the ocean’ typifies a beguiling formula, with other highlights including the fittingly titled ‘memories and tape’ and hypnotic ‘ophelia’. Their self-titled debut set is available in all the usual formats including ‘super special extra round sound’ vinyl.

Kim Thompsett‘s single ‘Woebetide Hill’ brings the modern and ancient together. If you’re a fan of ‘Gather In The Mushrooms’ or the Wicker Man Soundtrack like me, this is for you. ‘Woebetide Hill’ will be available digitally from 30 April, with Kim’s ‘The Hollows’ album already available for pre-order via Bandcamp.

Greek-Italian singer-songwriter Coti K‘s ‘King Time’ LP, is the third solo album under the name ‘The Man From Managra’. King Time’s songs cover life issues big and small whilst focusing on being a better person. A strong set of tracks with a varied sonic pallete and an unquenching thirst for melody.  It’s time to let The Man From Managra into your life.

Mini-album ‘Colours Unplugged: Black & White’ by Clockwork Flowers features John Bliss playing unplugged versions of 6 selected songs from ‘Colours’ plus an additional unreleased song ‘Crying Shame’ also written in the 1980s. This stripped back approach highlights the consistently strong knack for melody that Clockwork Flowers have.

The soulful tones of Nora Murray and her new single ‘House of Blues’ highlight an artist already marked out for a breakthrough in 2019.

Simon Lunche continues his rich vein of soul with a funk edged single Marigolds, keeping up his status as being one of 2019’s ones to watch .

Thee Telepaths debut LP ‘The Velvet Night’ is led by teaser ‘Epsilon Parts I-III’. A track that brings brews the best of doomy psych, Krautrock with a dash of punk it promises much for the long player available on Bandcamp.

Now to synth based psych from The Shakes. ‘Underneath A Blood Orange Sky’ narrates the story of teenage boy making his way in life. A highlight from “B side playlist” it collects the formative stages of this indie group and marks out an ambitious and eclectic sound.

We remain in the US for our final release. Lauren Lakis‘s doomy shoegazing single ‘Right Now’ is a highlight from her ‘Sad Girl Breakfast’ EP. With a hypnotic mix of indie, pop and alternative rock Lauren’s back catalogue reveals a body of work just as strong.
