John Lodge Days Of Future Passed - My Sojourn

In the ever-evolving landscape of rock, some albums stand as monumental milestones, forever etching their significance in the history of music. Among these LPs is The Moody Blues’ groundbreaking 1967 album, “Days of Future Passed”. Fast forward to 2023, and John Lodge, the bass player, songwriter, and vocalist of The Moody Blues, has embarked on a journey to celebrate this timeless classic. With his ‘Day of Future Passed’ tour and studio recording, “Days of Future Passed – My Sojourn” Lodge is recapturing the magic of this album.

Lodge and his 10,000 Light Years Band have lovingly recreated the classic album, with orchestration by Lodge’s long-term collaborator and dear friend, Alan Hewitt. A special recording by the late Graeme Edge, a founding member of The Moody Blues, and performances by Jon Davison of YES add a layer of nostalgia and depth to the project.

For John, “Days of Future Passed” is more than just an album; it’s a testament to the transformative power of music. The original album, conceived in 1967, challenged conventional norms when Decca Records proposed that The Moody Blues put lyrics to Dvorak’s New World Symphony for a ‘sampler’ album. The band opted to blaze their own trail, birthing a groundbreaking concept album that is widely regarded as the genesis of progressive rock.

In Lodge’s own words, “After my “Days of Future Passed” tours in Feb/Mar and July of this year, I was blown away by the reaction of everyone to my new concert and the fans response to my version of the album that changed my life. I’m delighted that we are now releasing this in the UK and making it available to all. I am hoping that this will bring a new generation of listeners, that they may then rediscover the original recording, and the beautiful vocals of Mike Pinder, Justin Hayward, Ray Thomas and myself. I miss the Moodies, but I’m so grateful to the fans who have continued to support me, and give me the opportunity to continue doing what I love. I dedicate this album to Graeme, Justin, Mike and Ray, to Tony Clarke, and to all the fans that are with me on this “my sojourn” no matter when you joined…”
