Lorenzo Gabanizza and Jeff Christie’s new single, “You’re Not There”, is a story about loss, being inspired by Lorenzo’s experience of losing his mother last year.

Jeff Christie and Lorenzo Gabanizza You're Not There

At the age of 3, Lorenzo’s first touch of learning the English language was singing tracks Christie’s “Yellow River” and “San Bernadino” in perfect English to his mother, who was also a fan of Jeff’s music. To include Jeff in this heartfelt song about regret and acceptance, is the perfect send off to a beloved parent, which is why Lorenzo reached out to him. To meet, and work alongside, the hero that contributed to the bond of mother and son, only adds to the strength and power of this melancholy tribute.

Lorenzo: Jeff singing with me is a kind of tribute to her. His voice and melodies are so familiar and so deeply rooted in my youth. Having him on board felt similar to knowing a family member. He is the best of the best, one of the best songwriters and singers of the past century, and will surely be of the next.

The song is backed by Snake Davis on sax (Sting and Paul McCartney), Rusty Wright on lead guitar (voted the best guitarist on Vintage Guitars with Jeff Beck), Max Gabanizza (Lorenzo’s brother, who’s toured with Chuck Berry), as well as the backing vocals by singer-songwriter Katey Brooks. It’s is subtle and powerful production due to Greg Calbi (who’s mastered albums for Bob Dylan and David Bowie), and his collaborator, winner of 3 GRAMMYs, Steve Fallone, and Peter Hall.

“You’re Not There” is set for release on the 22nd October, 2021. Lorenzo Gabanizza’s new album, “ALL THE WORDS WE NEVER SAID”, is due in Spring 2022.
