Los Angeles group Crymwav have released ‘Speak No Evil,’ a brooding single that tackles surveillance culture, technology’s reach, and authoritarian creep with the group’s distinctive blend of punk and classic rock.

The track features a notable guest appearance from Roman Jugg, former guitarist and keyboardist for The Damned. Jugg’s piano and harpsichord work evokes the spirit of their 1985 album Phantasmagoria, adding a layer of gothic drama to Crymwav’s sound.

Fronted by singer-songwriter Roger Deering, Crymwav emerged in 2022 from the remains of glam rock influenced group Smash Fashion. The project took shape after Deering experienced a prolific songwriting period while staying in London four years ago, drawing inspiration from British acts including Hawkwind, The Clash, Killing Joke, and Motörhead.

The new single showcases the band’s current lineup, which includes new drummer Pat Muzingo of Junkyard, whose Jerry Nolan-influenced intro sets the tone. Alongside Deering are lead guitarist Lloyd Stuart Casson and bassist Bruce Braddock, with production handled by the band and mixing by Hunter Crowley.

‘Speak No Evil’ follows earlier singles ‘Contagious’ and ‘Sense of Adventure’ as a preview of Crymwav’s debut full-length album, scheduled for spring 2026. The band’s 2023 self-released EP 24/7 garnered strong reviews, including from The Strange Brew.

Crymwav will perform at the Whiskey a Go Go in Los Angeles on 2 January, followed by a show at London’s Hope and Anchor on 20 March 2026.

The single is available now via Bandcamp and streaming platforms.
