Hailing from California, Maston have brewed up a stunning new album blending Brian Wilson sounds with dark undertones. It really does stand proudly alongside the finest work of Sagittarius with haunting vocals, fairground organ, woodwind and brass scoring a set of tremendous songs.
There isn’t a duff track on its 10 sides opening with “Strange Rituals” (resembling elements of Barnaby Rudge’s cult 1968 single Joe Organ and Co) with other gems like “Messages” (a Good Vibrations for the 21st century):

Other highlights include the instantly catchy “(You Were) In Love”, “Judge Alabaster” (the best song The Last Shadow Puppets never wrote) and “Flutter” (like a lost Smile outtake).
